Horse Back Riding

Point Cabrillo Lighthouse

This state park offers a spectacular fresnel lens, new museum exhibits, nature preserve, and gift shop. It is only 6 miles from the Emerald Dolphin. Open daily 11-4. Free to the public! Please note: it is an easy 1/2 mile walk to the lighthouse from the parking lot.

The Guest House Museum

Located on Main Street, in the heart of downtown Fort Bragg, you will see an amazing piece of history. Inside the Guest House Museum, one will find pictures and artifacts telling the history of the forest products industry on the Mendocino Coast and the city of Fort Bragg.

Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens

47 breathtaking acres. An easy 1/2 mile walk takes you from well tended gardens through a fern covered canyon to spectacular vistas at the ocean's edge. Summer hours: 9-5pm,  Winter Hours: 9am- 4pm. Located just minutes from the Emerald Dolphin Inn.

Beaches, Parks, Hiking & Bird Watching:

Pomo Bluffs at Todd's Point and Hare Creek Beach

Among the Emerald Dolphin Inn's most beautiful assets is Pomo Bluffs park just a short walk away. A gorgeous 25-acre blufftop park with unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean, Noyo Bridge, and the mouth of the Noyo River and harbor entrance. Also within walking distance of Emerald Dolphin is the secluded Hare  Creek Beach. This beautiful beach is a popular spot for surfing, skin boarding, boogie boarding, or just hanging out on the beach relaxing or watching the beautiful sunset.

Mackerricher State Park

Come, visit the gorgeous stretch of sandy beach, feed the ducks or fish in the lake, bird watch, take a walk on the boardwalk to explore the tide pools or watch sea lions. Don't forget to look for whale spouts!

Located on Highway One, just 3 miles North of Fort Bragg and just 10 short minutes from the Emerald Dolphin Inn.

And the best part is, park entrance is free.

Glass Beach

One of the most unique beaches in the world. The sand is covered in smooth beach glass glistening in the sun. Located on West Elm street in Fort Bragg, just minutes from Emerald Dolphin Inn.  This is also where you can begin the new beach front walking trail along the bluffs of Fort Bragg.

Russian Gulch State Park

This park is known for the heavily forested Creek Canyon, a headland that features the Devil’s Punch Bowl (a large, collapsed sea cave with churning water), and a beach that offers swimming, tide pool exploring, skin diving and rock fishing. Inland,(about 5 mile round trip hike) there is a 36-foot high waterfall. Located approx. 8 miles South of Emerald Dolphin Inn on Highway 1.

JugHandle State Park

The watershed of Jug Handle Creek holds a rare natural phenomenon— an “ecological staircase”—that attracts scientists and nature lovers from all over the world. The staircase is composed of 5 terraces, each about 100,000 years older and about 100 feet higher than the one below it. Located on Hwy One just minutes from Emerald Dolphin Inn. on Highway One.
